James M. Decker, lawyer in Stamford and partner in the Shahan Guevara Decker Arrott law firm, announced today that he has acquired Sovereignty Abstract and Title in Haskell, Texas. Sovereignty Abstract and Title, formerly Dulaney Abstract Company, was founded in 1880. Sovereignty Abstract and Title serves as the top resource for real estate title records and title insurance. These records date back to the sovereignty of the soil, and the earliest days of settlement in Haskell County.
Sovereignty Abstract and Title will continue to operate with Misty Weiser as escrow officer and manager. Nikki Thompson will aid in the day-to-day procedures of the title company, and is expected to complete her escrow officer licensing under the new ownership.
"I am excited about the acquisition of Sovereignty Abstract and Title," said Decker. "Both sides of my family have a long history in Haskell County and I am excited to serve the county and its communities."
Decker graduated from Texas A&M University in 2006 with a bachelor of science degree in agribusiness. He then attended Texas Tech University School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor (JD) in 2009.
Decker returned to his hometown of Stamford, Texas in 2009 where he serves as a member of numerous community organizations, and alumni organizations at his alma mater, Texas A&M University. Decker is a member of Saint John's United Methodist Church in Stamford.
