Council Approves $61,000 Loan to Hospital

The Anson City Council held two lengthy executive sessions Monday, May 4th as part of a joint meeting with the Anson Hospital Board. The first executive session was to discuss and take action on a long range plan to keep Anson General Hospital open and discussing the responsibilities and obligations of the city that will arise in the event of closure. At the end of 2 hours and 15 minutes in executive session with both the citys and hospitals attorneys,  the council reconvened to make a motion to stop billing the hospital for water and sewer effective with the May billing cycle. A second motion was made by councilman Pete Klein for the city to lease all of the Anson EMS employees starting with the May Payroll. Both motions passed. The council then entered back into executive session to discuss and take action on entering into a loan agreement with Anson General Hospital to loan the hospital $61,000.
Also at the meeting, the council approved the minutes from the previous meeting with minor corrections and appointed Evelyn Lollar to the Zoning and Planning Commission.
