Hawley Sports Shorts

The Hawley Bearcats and Ladycats are taking the region by storm. Starting with boys Regional Semifinal Basketball, the Bearcats were barely edged out with overtime play with a score of 47-45 to Farwell. The boys had a great season, ending with a ranking of 16 out of 207 schools, winning 26 games in the season. This is the first time since 1987.  We are so very proud of our boys.

The girls powerlifting team went to the regional meet in Mertzon and took the meet in their usual fashion. Courtney Dillard, Leighan Allen, Carlee Pitcher, and Harley Weber all won their weight classes, with Whitney Kitchen winning second, and Reagan Chapman 3rd. Leighan was named Best Lifter in Bench, and Best Overall Lifter as well as setting regional records in squat and bench in her weight class. Whitney also set a regional record for bench in her weight class. Coach Stoker was named Winning Coach. Congratulations, girls!

Softball and baseball is starting up, and the girls are continuing their steamrolling style from last season by taking a 16-1winover Jim Ned, 8-2 championship win over Big Spring.

Leighan Allen was named Big Country Player of the Week, what an honor!

Be sure to check the Hawley ISD website for sports schedules. Congratulations to all the kids! You guys are doing a great job!
