Jones County Commissioner’s Court met on February 9, 2015 for their regularly scheduled meeting. Discussion was conducted on the resolution for authorizing submission of a Texas Community Block Grant Program to be sent to the Texas Department of Agriculture. The Hawley Water Supply Corporation was in preparation to apply for the grant but it was advised that it would in their best interest to do a joint application with Jones County. By entering into the application jointly the grant amount would be increased. The grant amount would be in the amount of $350,000 and Hawley Water Supply Corporation would add $35,000 to that amount. Jones County will be committing zero dollars towards the project but with the joint application would help Hawley get the needed funds for water improvements. The area covered in the grant application would include the city of Hawley, the area that crosses the Clearfork and down to what was previously Pride Refinery. The court agreed that Judge Spurgin would act as the executive officer on behalf of Jones County in working with the Texas Department of Agriculture on the grant matter.
