With many in the community having served or currently serving in the military, their sacrifice cannot go unnoticed. Soon work will begin on a memorial to commemorate these brave men and women. Their dedication to their country will be recognized in a memorial site located in downtown Anson between the Red Poppy and Haechten Crop Insurance. The land for the memorial was donated to the city and with the help of various organizations in the community, construction is soon slated to begin. To help with construction costs, the Texas Education Facilities Corporation allotted $20,000 to go towards the project. Once constructed the memorial will be an enduring symbol to signify honor, courage and remembrance of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
