The Jones County Sheriff’s Department, Taylor County Sheriff’s Department and Hawley Police Department were involved in apprehending several men believed to be involved in a theft ring in Jones County. Officers from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department stopped a vehicle on Wednesday, January 7 at 6:09 p.m. that had been reported stolen in Runnels County. Marvin Dale Stroope, 46 and Raymond Scott Snyder, 46 occupants of the vehicle were found to be in possession of more than four grams of methamphetamine and suspected stolen tools. Stroope and Snyder were taken into custody and booked into the Taylor County Jail. After receiving information from this arrest, the TCSO issued a search warrant in Hawley at the 11000 block of FM 3326. During the execution of this search warrant, officers from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, the Hawley Police Department and the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department took into custody 69.4 grams of liquid methamphetamine, close to an ounce of marijuana, body armor, silencers, over 50,000 rounds of ammunition, 31 guns, one of which was a sawed off shotgun, and multiple tools. Estimated value of the items recovered is approximately $72,000. Many of the items recovered were also found to be from burglaries in Taylor County. The Hawley Police Department arrested Shannon Ince and Dwayne Smith and transported them to the Jones County Jail in connection with the recovered items.
