Freezing temperatures and icy road conditions did not hinder the Anson Lions Club’s Annual Holiday Basketball Tournament. The tournament was held on Monday, December 29 and Tuesday, December 30 at the Anson High School Gym. The Lions Club holds various fundraisers during the year to help raise funds to meet the needs of the community. Lion’s Club has 1.36 million members nationwide who perform community service. The club’s core belief is "community is what we make of it." Anson Lions Club’s Annual Pancake Supper and Holiday Basketball Tournament are two major fundraisers held each year. With community support the Lions Club makes a major difference in the lives of many in the community through their continued service.
During the two day tournament Anson, Childress, Colorado City, Winters, Eastland, Sweetwater, Roby and Bronte participated in the girl’s bracket. The boy’s bracket included Anson, Winters, Bronte, Blum, Seymour, Christoval, Colorado City, Roby and Sweetwater. Eastland won the girls portion of the tournament and Colorado City won the boys.
