Changes…They are Coming….

By Callie Metler-Smith

We here at Clear Fork Media Group hope you have enjoyed your holidays over the last two weeks. As a company we would greatly like to thank you for your support of our different businesses. It has been a great year for us with the expansions made to Noteworthy Bookstore with several new items and publishers. We also published our first book “Lives for Hire” under our Clear Fork Publishing imprint and continued to serve Jones County through the Stamford, Anson, and Hawley sections of our newspaper.

As we are setting up our goals for the New Year, we talked about some of the changes we wanted to see in The American. One obvious wish was more color pages, but another was that we could still have papers on major newsstands by Tuesday night AND provide more up-to-the minute news. You talked and we listened…..and some changes are coming to the American Newspapers.

Starting next week our paper will feature more color pages and go to press a little later to allow coverage of items that happen over the weekend and on Monday. The paper will still be available on newsstands by Tuesday night, but won’t be in local mailboxes till Thursday instead of the normal Wednesday delivery. Other changes will include that the Anson and Hawley paper will be inserted a little differently into Stamford, so we request your patience as we work out the bugs. Hawley instead of being flipped will actually start at the end of Anson and both sections will include more color than currently.

Another change that won’t happen right away, but we hope you will look forward to, is the launching of the AMERICAN app to Android and Apple Devices. We are set to launch sometime in the next two months, so watch the newspaper for more details. We urge you if you haven’t checked out the new website at americannewspapers.net that you do so.

We also want to remind you that this is your newspaper and any story ideas, column ideas, picture submission or ideas concerning any other newsworthy events in Jones County are welcome! We LOVE to brag on the great things happening in your life! Please send any content or ideas to callie@americannewspapers.net.

You have done amazing things, Callie, since I first met you while you were in high school. There are even more ahead for you. I take pride in knowing I played a very small part in your life's story. You are a terrific example for other young women of what can happen when you combine brains and hard work with passion and persistence. You are truly an New American Girl!
