Mesquite Daze Has Gone to the Dogs – 1st Annual Benefit Dog Costume Contest 

4-H members in Jones County will host a benefit fundraiser “Dog Costume Contest” with proceeds being given to Rescue the Animals in Abilene, as a One Day 4-H Community Service Project. The Costume Contest will be held in conjunction with Mesquite Daze in Anson, October 25th. Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the show begins at 2:00 p.m. on the Courthouse Square. Prizes will be awarded for: Best Dog/Owner Costume Combo, Best Costume, Spookiest Dog, Funniest Costume, Handsomest Dog, Waggiest Tail, Prettiest Dog, Tiniest Dog, Biggest Dog, Most Obedient, Most Unique Costume, Dog the Judge Would Most Like to Take Home
