St. John's UMC Provides Christmas Lunch for 26th Year

For the 26th year, St. John’s UnitedMethodistChurch provided a delicious, home cooked Christmas dinner for the community. Local churches and volunteers work hard to make sure that everyone who needs a meal gets one. Over 700 people were served in all, with over 500 of that to-go orders. Preparation begins the day before at around 2:30 a.m. Pies are cut into individual slices and placed into containers or on plates, fruit is bagged for to-go orders, dressing is made and put into pans for cooking. Roasters filled with turkey, ham, green beans, and sweet potatoes line the walls of the kitchen and fill a classroom that is converted for this one-day event. At least 100 volunteers work hard to make sure everyone who needs a meal, gets one. From those who put together to-go plates, to those who deliver them and those who serve the families and individuals who come to the church to eat. They all find it a time to reach out and give back to the community and fellowship with those who are unable to leave their homes.
